Countries with medium per capita income and high economic growth. They are countries that are managing to exploit their natural and human resources and, thanks to an accelerated process of investment in capital and education, are growing above the world average. This group is mainly made up of Southeast Asian countries and some nations in Africa and South America. Many of these nations were previously part of the group of underdeveloped countries, characterized by low per capita income, poor health, high income inequality, and reduced life expectancy, as well as low productivity levels, unskilled labor, and limited technology. Underdeveloped countries have high population growth rates, high unemployment rates, and market imperfections, among other factors. Their average income is much lower than that of industrialized countries, and most of them are located in Africa, Asia, and South America.
